Eigentlich sind schon die beiden Fachwerkstädte Hornburg (UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe) und Osterwieck allein einen Tagesausflug wert. Dazwischen verläuft der anspruchsvolle Kammweg des Kleinen Fallsteins mit vielen Aussichtspunkten. Und so abwechslungsreich im Spannungsfeld zwischen Natur und Kultur geht es auch weiter: kleine Dörfer, Flussauen, das Eisenbahnmuseum im ältesten erhaltenen Bahnhof Deutschlands (Vienenburg), Schlösser und Burgen.
