Die Lorze bildet zwischen dem Aegerisee und dem Zugersee über weite Strecken eine zum Teil tiefe Schlucht. Bezaubernde Passagen durch ein ausgedehntes Waldgebiet bildet den Kern der Wanderung. Weiter unten öffnet sich das Tal und die Lorze verläuft in einem grossen Bogen zum Zugersee hinunter. Etwa auf halber Strecke sorgen die bizarren Felsformationen der Höllgrotten für Abwechslung.
