Monastery on Patrica Island

This old Greek monastery (mainly ruins) on Patrica island overlooks the sea in the direction of Lesbos. Even though some postcards etc. show the monastery, it is not marked on maps and it also not sign-posted. Only at the trail-head there is a sign "monastery" written with red paint on one of the olive trees. The hike is easy, mostly runs through olive groves, and at the end descends to sea-level. The old monastery is slowly crumbling away: one should hurry to have a look at what is left of it. Alternatively, this tour can done by mountain-bike from Alibey (Cunda); there are also some nice beaches on the way.
